Why would I change my Domain Name Servers?
If you change hosting providers for your website, you will need to edit your Domain Name Servers (DNS) to connect, or point, your domain name to your new host.
What is DNS?
Domain name servers (DNS) convert domain names to numbers that represent physical Internet addresses. Domain names are stored on the servers, which translate your domain each time an Internet user requests your web address by typing it into their browser.
Advanced Users:
To specify your IPv6 name server address (IPv6 glue record), e-mail us the domain name, the host name of the name server(s), and their IPv6 address(es).
What is Domain Pointing?
In order for visitors to see your website when they visit your domain, you need to make sure your domain and website are connected. You can accomplish this by pointing your domain name (and, therefore, your visitors) to your website.
If your website is not yet built, you have several options. For example, you can fill out a form to create a one-page Business Profile and point your domain to the profile until your website is ready. You can also have your domain point to an Under Construction page until your website is ready for viewing.
If your website is located with a different service provider, you can edit your DNS (Domain Name Servers) to connect, or point, your domain name to the name servers of a different hosting provider.
